Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer (2015)

Let’s take a moment to talk about the new Star Wars trailer.

Since the announcement of Disney buying Lucas Arts I have had little interest in which direction the Star Wars franchise is going to be taken. This is mainly due to the fact that I feel that their rules and regulations can limit a film and prevent it from achieving it’s true potential. Take Alice in Wonderland (2010) for example, Tim Burton was a little outnumbered on a lot of the decision making to say the least and this robbed it of all the mannerisms that Burton would have given it.

I have been a star wars fan from a very young age and grew up watching the prequels. I thoroughly enjoyed them (apart from the 3rd film which just felt like its sole purpose was to merge the two sagas together) sorry Annie…

However, my love has always been with the original saga and I was determined to keep it that way. Then I saw the trailer for the latest instalment. It looks like J.J Abrams has been true to his word and stuck to the format of the Star Wars movies (The original saga at least) which is great news!

The contrast in lighting is definitely something to be awed at but the main spectacle of this trailer is the amount of action and beautiful C.G.I we are shown. The trailer also uses a slow and ominous sound which slowly increases tension and excitement, eventually developing into the alluring soundtrack that all Star Wars fans will recognise.

We are shown very little in terms of what the narrative is going to be based on but the one thing that had me on the edge of my seat was the re-introduction of the Dark side. Even in two minutes we get a spine-chilling glimpse of the film’s antagonist and that is enough to make any fan go and see it.

Action-packed, eye pleasing, geeky goodness.

There really is only one way to sum up the audience reaction…

12 million+ views in a day? There’s just no arguing with those statistics. Needless to say, I can’t wait!

If you live under a rock and somehow haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it below.
